About
Danièle Massie
I am a graduate of the Gestalt Institute of Toronto, with certificates in Gestalt Therapy, Gestalt Theory and Methodology, as well as Advanced Group Leadership. I have been in private practice in Toronto since 2005. In addition to seeing adults for one-on-one sessions, I lead bi-monthly group series as well as workshops. Recent workshops in Canada and the US include: “The Movingbody: Self-Discovery Through Movement and Body Processes,” “BodyMind Mapping: Exploring Joy in Everyday Life,” "From Mindfulness to Awareness: Gestalt Meditation," "Somatic Gestalt 101: Working Through The Body," "Shy Side: The Power And The Pain," “Pink Triangle,” and “Saying Goodbye.”
My specific approach, Somatic Gestalt Psychotherapy, integrates my 25 years of mindfulness / movement / body awareness work with Gestalt Therapy. This includes Dreamwork, Art Therapy, the practice of Authentic Movement based on Jung's Active Imagination as well as the rediscovery of experiencing through Sensory Awareness work (with Leslie French / Judith Koltai, Canada, 1998-2008). My study of perception and presence in dance performance for dancers and non-dancers (with Deborah Hay, USA, 1985-1988) as well as my interest in everyday movement as living art also inform my work as a Gestalt Psychotherapist.
This kind of integrative therapy allows you to experience the healing nature of living fully in the present, and to return to your body as a source of knowledge and wisdom–for personal growth and integration.
I am a member of OACCPP, the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists and subscribe to its Code of Ethics.
